He Makes Beautiful.

The truth you need:

Genesis 1:27, “So God created mankind in his own image,  in the image of God he created them;  male and female he created them.”

Genesis 2:7, “Then the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.”

Psalm 139:13-15, “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.  I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.  My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.”

God makes beautiful.  He is perfect; only in Him could the dust of the ground be formed into a perfectly knit-together human being.  Only a holy Creator could breathe life into nostrils and declare it living…and not just living, but the true definition of good.

You are precious miracle.

Before the healing can come:

In a fallen world, we have accepted images, terms, and conditions about what makes something beautiful or wonderfully made.  We have humanized beauty and cheapened it down to what we can identify or sell.  What is pleasing to our sinful lusts as we covet or gaze with discontentment.  That’s right, I said the word “covet”…and we’ve all been guilty of it!  Covet means to want what has been given or belongs to another person.  The act of coveting has a voracious appetite to devour any good thing around it and when it achieves something, it will just move on to the next thing it sees.  Is that not what we do or what we participate in, when we long to look like another individual or have something be true of us that we feel is missing (that is not a godly character trait)?

I have already began the body-image/beauty conversations with my little girl who attends kindergarten at a private school.  Already at age 5, she is buying into the lies that she must look a certain way or gather with certain friends in order to be declared beautiful.

Ladies, with the power of God’s help in our time of need, we are going to stop right now!  No more! 

I want you to understand something very clearly…When you complain about yourself or harbor depressive and negative thoughts inside about your physical being, you are buying into Satan’s lie that is straight from the pit of hell! 

You are saying that something God has declared good and wonderful is not good enough for you…you are doing exactly what Satan did when he put himself above God before he was thrown from heaven.  You are saying that you know what is best and you lie to yourself. 

Give up the lie.  Confess out loud the lie you have been feeding yourself and flee from it!  To you, that may mean you stop buying magazines or you stop watching certain movies.  It may at times feel like sacrifice, because when we are lying to ourselves and believing Satan, he makes it feel good even in the worst moments of despair.  Satan somehow perverts the lie enough that we cannot stay away from it.  When we are in a sinful habit, we are drawn to it and crave the way it works inside of us.

This habit must be broken.

If we are going to stop believing these lies, we must confess our sin and replace the lies with truth.  Just like if you clean out an area in your home, you cannot just leave it empty and expect it to stay clean.  Junk will find a way back into that space like lies will find their way back into your heart.  You must give that an area a “job” and fill it with organized items that fit into the job you have declared for the space.  In our heart and mind, this means making active choices and thoughts that are truthful. 

Colossians 3:1-4, “Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.  Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.  For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.”

Philippians 4:8, “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.”

A healed heart can accept truth.

Once you have confessed and asked God to help you clean out the lies, you are ready to understand and believe the truth.  One thing that I have found, to at least be true about myself, is if truth is told to me before I confess the lie I’m believing…I do not listen and the truth frustrates me because I’m still believing the opposite.

Frustration is not from God, but the Holy Spirit does work to convict our heart when we need to confess.  Psalm 139:23-24, “Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.”

Truth is this.  God does not do anything that is half-way.  He does not have mistakes or leave things unfinished.  God is an intricate designer and He made you for a reason…His glory!  Now, let that sink in.  We know that God’s glory in unmatched and He shares His glory with no one.  In God’s goodness, He created us to glorify Himself.  The definition of beautiful.

No lie is worth that.  Do not exchange God’s amazing story for anything cheap.  Only the creator is allowed to declare the definition of His created.  Anything else is counterfeit.

Wherever you are right now, know you are a chosen individual.  God formed you and made you for a relationship with Himself.  He desires to keep company with you and sing over you with His truth.

Zephaniah 3:17, “The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves.  He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.”

He makes beautiful.
