I talk about my relationship with God a lot on this blog because He is why we even have life. I’m far from perfect and I don’t care for religion. I’m not a scholar and I don’t even try to have all the answers. I’m a sinner who was saved by grace from a loving God who showered me with His mercy. I’m still broken everyday, but my relationship with God renews me and saves me.
Jesus lived a sinless life and still died on the cross because God wanted to provide a way for our sins to be paid. Then, God raised Jesus from the dead after 3 days. There is the way we can have a relationship with Him!
The Bible says we all fall short of the glory of God and we need a Savior (Rom 3:23). Jesus Christ died on the cross to provide a way for us to have eternal life.
I believe salvation, from beginning to end, is the gracious work of God, based on the finished work of Christ.
It cannot be earned through self-improvement or good works. I believe it is only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God’s offer of forgiveness that anyone can be saved from the penalty of sin. I believe that when a person turns from their self-ruled life and turns to Jesus in faith, accepting what He did on the cross for them, he/she is saved. I believe all who receive Christ become children of God and are secure in Him. (John 1:11-13; I Cor. 12:13; Col. 1:18)
Truths that Heal:
Do you feel alone?
God says He will never leave us.
Do you feel abandoned?
God says that NOTHING can separate us from His love
Do you feel sorrow?
God says He is close to the brokenhearted.
Do you feel uncertain?
God says that He gives us a hope and a future.
You are not required to change before you ask for forgiveness. You can come as you are, knowing you need forgiveness, and God promises to give you eternal life. You don’t need the answers. All you need is a desire for God to be in control of your life. WOW, that takes a lot of pressure off of you!
How you can pray to ask Jesus into your heart:
I recognize that I’m a sinner who needs forgiveness. I know that you died on the cross and rose again, to give me salvation.
Please forgive my sins and come into my heart.
Please take control and help me to stop trying to do everything by myself. I love you and I want to live for you now.
In your name, amen.
That is the first step. Don’t keep this to yourself.
Being a Christian is about being in community and encouraging each other. I hope that you have family that will support you, but I want you to know that you now have God’s family. Find a church in your area where they can help you grow. Where they can connect you with other people. Where they can get you a Bible to read.
Let me know, so I can pray for you and help you too!
